Big Bend National Park

If you're looking for one of the greatest motorcycle rides in North America, Big Bend National Park should be on your list. It isn't a place of endless twisties like the Tail of the Dragon—it's about huge landscapes, solitude, and riding through some of the most remote country in Texas.

Here are the highlights:

The Ride

  • Over 100 miles of paved park roads with almost no stoplights or traffic.
  • Wide sweepers, elevation changes, and spectacular mountain scenery.
  • Speed limits are generally low (45–55 mph), so it's a ride to enjoy rather than race.

Best Roads

Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive

  • About 30 miles one way.
  • Many riders consider it the best road inside the park.
  • Highlights include:
    • Sotol Vista Overlook
    • Mule Ears Viewpoint
    • Tuff Canyon
    • Castolon Historic District
    • Santa Elena Canyon at the end of the road.
