This trip was a personal first for me, a true bucket list ride, my first ride of anything more than a day ride. I put a lot of time, money, and planning into making it happen.
Unfortunately, as an adult, and small business owner, all of you can understand that sometimes life gets in the way.
I own an automotive repair shop in a small town, and I've always believed my employees and my customers come before me. Because of that, I ended up using the money I had set aside for this trip to buy parts, pay my employee for his work, and repair a vehicle for an elderly widow living on a fixed income. She couldn't be without reliable transportation, so I agreed to let her make payments over time. I may never see that money again, but it was the right thing to do.
As a result, I no longer have the finances to make this trip.
The good news is that all the hard work is already done. The route is planned, the stops are mapped out, and everything is organized in Google Maps. Just open the route, click each stop in order, and enjoy the ride.
My not being able to go shouldn't keep anyone else from making the trip. I truly hope everyone who planned to go still does, even if it's without me.
I'll get to make this ride someday. It just won't be this time.
